Update from the National Steering Committee
The National Steering Committee (NSC) for the Marriage CoMission gathered at the Chick-fil-A corporate headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, in January to discuss Marriage CoMission plans for 2006. The group enjoyed an uplifting evening of fellowship and prayer in the home of Bubba and Cindy Cathy before getting down to work the next morning.
Here are some highlights of the issues the Committee covered:
· Julie Baumgardner and Jeff Kemp were invited to be Co-Executive Directors of the Marriage CoMission
· Dates for the 2006 Summit were set for Tuesday, November 28th through Thursday, November 30th
· Special orientation for newcomers to the Marriage CoMission Summit will be held on-site prior to the official start of the Summit
· Greater need for awareness of diversity issues within the Marriage CoMission was emphasized
· Prayer was identified as a major priority for 2006
· FamilyLife has volunteered to secund a coordinator to the work of the Marriage CoMission
The ultimate goal of the Marriage CoMission is to help city leaders to be well equipped to lead effective, catalytic marriage initiatives. The NSC is committed to seeing this goal accomplished!
