Representatives from all eight 2006 Target Cities were able to attend! There was a continual amazement among the participants that four different non-profit community mobilization organizations, all of which have essentially the same mission, would come together and share their successes, their secrets and their struggles with each other and the group. Live the Life Ministries from Tallahassee, FL, Families Northwest from Washington state, Georgia Family Council, and First Things First from Chattanooga, TN “donated” their leaders for three days to help these eight cities move their initiatives forward. There was so much excitement as participants discovered new, easier ways to execute in trouble spots.
The participants’ have a unique sense of urgency: they know that the faster they can move and mobilize their community, the more marriages can be saved in the neighborhoods, churches, and businesses in their city. This is the beauty of calling on a city’s leadership to take responsibility in their community. Results are personal and successes are very tangible.
Although overwhelmed by the amount of information, this amazing group of people pushed through and worked hardonly solidify their city’s team. They also began relationships with others in the target cities. Many said they were encouraged and renewed for the work ahead. The Marriage CoMission is celebrating that we were able to help them and cheer them on in their efforts.
